Established in 1967 by Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix was the first winery established in Margaret River on a prime site with gravel loam soils in Wilyabrup. Significant investment over the decades have seen this winery expand to four key sites, some of which gained organic certification. Under leading local winemaker Virginia Willcock, the wines from Vasse Felix have all risen in quality with impressive Estate examples of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah. Their icons, the Chardonnay Heytesbury and more recent addition to their range the Cabernet Malbec Tom Cullity, are always worth searching out thanks to their combination of power and subtlety. Vasse Felix have also made a significant investment in sparkling wine production and have recently launched their new Idée Fixe Blanc de Blancs and Rosé based on fruit from their southern Margaret River property in Karridale. Surprisingly for Margaret River, the vineyard includes pockets of quartz soils which makes this label one to watch.
