The town of Tramin, in the southern part of the zone, is rich in history for it is here that Gewürztraminer was first cultivated. The Tramin estate is another of Alto Adige's high quality cooperatives with its own heritage going back over 100 years. The entry-level wines are aged in stainless-steel and make a great introduction to the wines of Alto Adige at terrific prices. The single-vineyard selections are of course more distinctive, and they too offer outstanding quality for the money.
