Salvioni’s Brunello is easily one of the top wines of the vintage. Unfortunately, production was down in 2016, and no magnums were bottled. Keep in mind that the Salvioni family decided to sacrifice some of their Brunello production to make a 2016 Rosso di Montalcino - another wine that’s seriously worth seeking out. Along with the 2016, a rare bottle of the 2001 arrived at my office, one of the only thirteen that remained in the winery’s cellar. It was such a towering and majestic wine, and one that still has a bright future ahead of it. I think it’s safe to say that Salvioni remains firmly at the top of their game.
