The 2008 Salon is one of the most anticipated new releases of the year. Because of the high quality of the vintage, President Didier Depond decided to bottle the entire harvest in magnum only. Depond was brutally severe in selection, however, and ultimately only 8,000 magnums were good enough for the Salon label, a sharp decrease from the more typical production of around 60,000 bottles, when Salon is produced at all. The 2008 will be offered only in a special boxed set along with two bottles each of the 2007, 2006 and 2004, all specially disgorged earlier this year for the wood case. Quite simply, the wines are truly special.
