The younger Jochen Ratzenberger readily confessed to the difficulty of picking around botrytis and acescence this year, and that is reflected in this estate’s unusually small number of total bottlings. A significant portion of this year’s harvest was set aside for Sekt, which since the late 1980s has had a significant place in the Ratzenberger line-up, nowadays amounting to around 15% of annual production.
