Coutier is one of Champagne’s under-the-radar gems. With prices skyrocketing throughout the region, these wines offer tremendous quality and value. The Blanc de Blancs shows just how compelling Chardonnay can be in Ambonnay, which is very much Pinot Noir country, while the Henri III, the top cuvée, is especially refined in its new release. The wines are all done in steel and undergo full malolactic fermentation, except the Henri III, which is vinified in oak, with the malo blocked. I can’t recommend these wines highly enough.
