Purlieu and winemaker Julien Fayard draw on a number of top vineyards for this collection of Cabernets. Some of these sites, including Missouri Hopper and To Kalon, are highly regarded, while others, such as Teucer and Caldwell, are younger vineyards whose true potential is still being explored. I only tasted through a subset of the range this year, but it seems to me that farming and winemaking probably need to be less pushed if the goal is to exalt the character of these specific vineyards. The highlights here are the 2016s, a vintage that provided a good bit of freshness and nuance to balance some of the more overt leanings in the wines.
