2022 Pinot Noir

One of the foremost estate vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Pisoni is a bastion of conscientious, wholistic farming, environmental awareness and connection with the land—or more simply, excellence. The Pisoni family has a generational history of farming in the Salinas Valley and operates a significant farming venture there to this day. Development and cultivation of the dynamic estate vineyard (on the southern end of the AVA at around 1,300 feet of elevation) began in 1982, spearheaded by patriarch Gary Pisoni. The first commercial release under the Pisoni Estate label followed in 1998. The eponymous Pisoni clone (a suitcase clone from Burgundy) now populates this vineyard and several others in the appellation. Sons Mark and Jeff Pisoni handle farming and winemaking respectively. This estate is all pedigree and class, but it’s also whimsical in its palpable personality—that shows in the wine. The Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir is a seriously age-worthy wine that delivers at the highest level year after year; 2022 is no different. It aged for 11 months in 70% new French oak—a typical regimen for this cuvée. Pisoni is one of the most respected names in the SLH, and for good reason.
