This range from Pax Mahle is bursting with gorgeous, utterly captivating wines. It’s hard to know where to start. Maybe with Gamay, as those were the two most surprising wines in the range. Mahle is among a small group of producers who are showing what is possible with this variety. Both Gamays are fabulous. In 2023, Mahle turned out a fabulous edition of his signature Syrah Sonoma Hillsides. Unfortunately, I was not able to taste a few wines that had not been bottled yet, but I will report on those as soon as is practical. These wines find Pax Mahle at the very top of his game. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
