All things considered, this is a solid set of new releases from Paul Hobbs. Harvest started a good two to three weeks earlier than normal, as it did pretty much everywhere. The Pinots are mostly convincing, with the exception of the Fraenkle-Cheshier and Goldrock, both of which really struggled. The Chardonnays are more consistent in terms of quality, but a pretty big departure from the past in terms of style. An emphasis on picking earlier and a reduction of new oak result in wines that are quite a bit different from what Paul Hobbs fans have come to expect.
