Back in 1990 the Faro denominazione was in danger of disappearing. It had been abandoned by growers and nobody made wine there anymore save small volumes intended for home use. It is to Salvatore Geraci’s credit that he believed in the viticultural and winemaking potential of the area and started making wines in commercially relevant quantities, effectively putting Faro on the quality wine map all by himself. In good vintages, Faro Palari is a beautifully mineral, refined red wine, while the entry-level Rosso del Soprano offers easier accessibility and riper fruit flavors.
