It was a pleasant surprise to taste bottled 2021s at Ovid, as the wines aren’t always in bottle when I stop by in the fall. I found the 2021s a bit closed, but I suspect some of that may have to do with bottle shock. There are two main wines in this range. The Cabernet Sauvignon is self-explanatory, while the Hexameter tends to feature Cabernet Franc more prominently. Both wines, and the Syrah, present a decidedly sleek, polished side of Pritchard Hill. Longtime winemaker Austin Peterson’s meticulous attention to detail is evident.
