I was blown away by the Next of Kyn wines this year. As I have written elsewhere in this article, Elaine and Manfred Krankl will probably always be best known for Sine Qua Non, but Next of Kyn is every bit as impressive.

This is another stellar set of wines from Manfred and Elaine Krankl. I found much to admire in the 2015s, some of which I tasted as preliminary blends (reviewed here) and others I saw from barrel as separate components that are destined for Sine Qua Non's higher range of wines that see extended time in oak. The bottled 2014s are just as brilliant from bottle as they were from barrel. Those wines are distinguished by an element of brightness to the 2014s that is hard to miss. Readers will find the 2013s much darker and more brooding in style. Lastly, Sine Qua Non fans will want to check out the 2014 Graciano, the first wine made from the Krankls' Third Twin Vineyard in Los Alamos.
