Mount Eden is one of the truly elite wineries in the United States. That point was driven home to me earlier this year when I tasted an extensive vertical of the estate's Pinot Noir that I will be reporting on in the near future. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon? Jeffrey and Ellie Patterson excel with all three. In fact, the Cabernet might very well be the most overlooked wine in the entire range. I also find Chardonnay (Edna Valley), the one non-estate wine in this lineup, to be consistently delicious and a steal. As always, the wines are made in a classic, transparent style that really exalts the character of this site. I can't recommend these wines highly enough.
