The Chardonnays and Rhône reds are the most distinctive wines in this range from Morgan. The Santa Lucia Highlands excels with Chardonnay, and Morgan has done a terrific job with their three bottlings. I was also quite taken with the Syrah-based wines for their overall quality and value. The Pinots are solid, but not at the same level of the best wines in this range. My sense is that the fruit is being picked at levels of ripeness that sacrifice freshness.
