Miguel Torres is the local branch of the Spanish winery of the same name and one of the first in Chile to concentrate on the export market, beginning in 1982. An icon in the modernization of the Chilean wine scene, the winery founded in Curicó stands out for its innovative approaches. Miguel Torres works with classical varieties and valleys in Chile. The estate is expanding into more novel cultivars such as Cinsault and País – the latter used for the Estelado sparkling wine – sourced from Biobío and Araucanía. Eduardo Jordán and his team have overseen the winemaking since 2019, exploring creative new takes on classical wines under the Cordillera de Los Andes brand and orange wines. This year I visited the Empedrado vineyard in the Maule region, a terraced-shaped planted vineyard established in 1995.
