I was able to retaste a number of Meroi wines while in Friuli. Meroi, a neighbor of Miani with a number of the same vineyard sources, offers portfolio of rich and often full-throttle Friulian whites and reds. At one time, the wines of Paolo Meroi were often compared to those of Miani, as he and Enzo Pontoni were friends. However recently, I find more oak intensity and a level of sweetness to the wines. That said, having retasted a number of them, there was some positive evolution in bottle, also a number of standouts from the new releases. Just be aware that a bottle of Meroi is not for the faint of heart.
