Meroi remains one of Friuli's under the radar jewel estates. Father and son team Paolo and Davino Meroi excel with bright, focused whites and opulent reds, which is to say that the style of the whites and reds are, if not diametrically opposite, pretty far apart. Still, there is plenty to admire in these new releases, which also happen to be some of the best and most consistent wines I have tasted from Meroi. Also tasted: 2013 Malvasia Zitelle.
