Marquis de Terme and the team led by Managing Director Ludovic David have done a terrific job with their 2013. David gave the 2013s a total of 40 days on the skins, one of the longest fermentation/maceration times I know of. Alcoholic fermentations took place in oak, while the malolactic fermentations were done in steel. The wines were subsequently racked back into barrel quickly, with the goal of using oak tannin to add body and structure. I also tasted the 2010, 2011 and 2012, wines that show Marquis de Terme has made serious strides in quality over the last few years. This is an estate to watch.
