M & C Lapierre is one of the most storied estates in Beaujolais. Matthieu and Camille Lapierre are consistently producing wines at an extremely high level of quality, among the best in the region. Their 2019s are true standouts in this excellent vintage, which has produced no small number of excellent wines. The 2018s are more than worth grabbing as well, as they show a high degree of energy for a hot vintage. It is also the case for their somewhat richer 2017s. Interestingly, I have been as impressed by the relatively new (since 2013) and distinctly vibrant Camille bottling as I have by the Lapierre’s flagship Morgon. That wine has for years been and continues to stand as a benchmark, not just for Morgon but for all of Beaujolais. Demand for the Lapierre wines keeps on a steady ascent, given that this is an iconic estate, in one of the best crus of a historically renowned region, and the quality of the wines is at an extremely high level.
