A collaboration of Master Sommelier and wine broker Sara Floyd and the Pisoni family, Luli has established itself as a go-to source for high-quality Santa Lucia Highlands wines that sell for extremely fair prices across their range. Drawing fruit from sources selected by the team, which obviously knows the region like the back of their collective hand, Jeff Pisoni is producing vibrant, user-friendly wines that show real SLH character and, in spite of their forward character, actually age quite well. That’s especially true for the single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, which in the 2018 vintage deliver truly outstanding quality while going for a suggested retail price of only $35 a bottle. I hope that when restaurants get back on their feet, they take a good, hard look at these wines, because they clearly show the character of the region at friendly prices and, in the case of the appellation wines, would make great, well-priced glass pours, which was the original goal of this project in the first place.
