According to Ted Lemon, the pinot noir pHs were healthier in 2002 than in 2001, and alcohol levels were lower. He considers 2002 an outstanding pinot vintage for Littorai, and I have to concur:this is the most aromatically precise and gripping set of pinots I've tasted to date from Lemon. The 2002 chardonnays also appear to be more classic in style, and more ageworthy, than the 2001s.(A heat spike in late August affected some of the early lots in 2001, Lemon noted.)The Littorai 2002s had been bottled about three weeks prior to my visit, except for the Mays Canyon chardonnay, which was bottled last August.
