Librandi is a an important southern Italian wine estate that has done more than any other winery to promote and improve the wines of Calabria, beginning with a decades-old project of old local grape variety research, study, identification and replanting. It is thanks to Librandi that the high-quality Magliocco Dolce variety has been brought back into the spotlight. Even more importantly, Librandi officially registered four new clones of Gaglioppo in 2014 and has finished long studies conducted over the years on the best local variety and rootstock combinations in their different terroir. The results of this research are now becoming available. Not wanting to rest on their laurels, the family has recently begun studying and working on a selection of indigenous local yeasts, which they hope to use one day to make their wines. This year, Librandi decided to renew its look somewhat, undertaking a significant restyling of all their labels, tech sheets and bottles.
