This is a fine set of 2023s from the Guinaudeau. As always, the team, led by Baptiste Guinaudeau, Omri Ram and Ralitsa Todorieva, offers especially thoughtful, introspective views of a year that, in the end, was shaped by two heat episodes at the end of the growing season. I found the two Grand Village wines, Les Perrières and Champs Libres, quite expressive and deep. The two wines from the Lafleur property were less giving. Perhaps the ups and downs of the growing season need more time to harmonize in these young wines, or maybe I caught them at an awkward moment, which can certainly happen with en primeur samples. We shall see when everything is in bottle. Readers will want to take a close look at the wines, as they are quite distinctive in 2023.
