The 2019 Barbarescos from La Spinetta are impressive. Like many wines in 2019, the Barbarescos are a touch reticent and certainly not as exuberant as they can be. The house style remains intact, though. These rich, heady Barbarescos just need time to soften a bit. As always, the fruit profile is quite generous, and there is a good bit of oak, but those elements are nicely balanced. I also tasted the 2011 Riservas, which have aged quite nicely. The Riservas are made from the oldest vines in each site, see more time in barrel and are bottled only in magnum.
