I was deeply impressed with three wines I tasted from Ca' Nova this year. With the skies turning black and the hail cannons going off in the background during what turned out to be a challenging summer, these wines were rock stars. La Ca' Nova sits in a privileged spot, nestled between the Montefico and Montestefano, two of Barbaresco's top sites. The wines spend about 25 days on the skins and are aged in medium-sized casks. Readers who enjoy powerful, classically built Barbarescos will adore these 2011s from La Ca' Nova, one of Piedmont's under the radar jewels.
