Proprietor Jasmine Hirsch and Winemaker Michael Cruse turned out a fine set of 2020 Pinots. Obviously, the vintage was quite challenging. Readers will note the absence of a number of flagship wines that weren’t bottled. Overall production is down by about 50% through severe selection that eliminated any lots that had signs of smoke taint. The wines that were made are quite impressive for the year. Hirsch and Cruse opted to de-stem all the fruit and use no press wine (both unusual here) out of an abundance of caution. The result of these choices is a set of wines that capture the best this very challenging season had to give.
