I missed Hanzell last year, so this set of reviews essentially comprises two cycles of releases. Jason Jardine makes super-expressive wines at this historic Moon Mountain property. Readers will want to pay special attention to wines made from the original 1953 blocks (among the oldest, if not oldest continually producing vineyards in the United States) and the small-lot, experimental wines bottled under the Hanzell Farms sister label. All the wines are made with a light hand and emphasize freshness, expression of place and variations in clones and élevage found in the Hanzell Farms selections.
