Director of Winemaking Megan Gunderson presented a stellar set of 2021s. I tasted all of these wines from barrel about a year ago. The wines are just as impressive in finished form. Since assuming her current role in 2020, Gunderson has moved to give these wines more energy while retaining the textural opulence that is such a Hall signature. For example, some of the wines are now fermented partially in concrete. Typically, the appellation wines see less oak and have a bit more vibrancy than the single vineyard offerings, which remain on the more flamboyant side for Napa Valley.
