I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted at Cortese this year. Readers can look forward to several terrific versions of both the Barbaresco Rabajà and flagship Riserva Rabajà in the coming years. Two thousand fifteen and 2016 are both shaping up to be terrific at this address. In 2015, Cortese did not make a Riserva, but readers can look forward to both the straight Barbaresco Rabajà and Riserva in 2016 [you repeat what you just said in the previous sentence], a year that is looking very, very good here. As always, the Cortese Barbarescos are very much classically inspired and built.

I tasted a number of fabulous wines on my most recent visit to Cortese. The 2015 Barbaresco Rabajà is a big step up from the 2014, while the 2013 Riserva is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine. On that note, Cortese did not bottle their Riserva in either 2014 or 2015, as they preferred to focus on 2016 for their flagship wine. In the meantime, readers will want to check out the 2011, which is terrific. As always, the Barbarescos are aged in cask and done in a classic, traditional style.
