One of New Zealand's most famous Pinot Noir producers, Felton Road is an organic and biodynamic producer that has evolved in the past two decades, moving toward more precision and freshness. There are five different Pinot Noirs, beginning with the not-so-entry-level “Bannockburn” cuvée. Hailing from the original site – the Elms Vineyard – come Block 3 and Block 5. The latter offers a more broody, dense expression with more classical structure and detail than Block 3. Several kilometers down the road, the Calvert Vineyard produces refined yet firm Pinot Noir. Cornish Point often plays second or even third fiddle but is a fragrant, elegant expression. The east-facing Block 2 Chardonnay provides a tighter expression than the north-facing Block 6. You can expect two juicy Rieslings, both sourced from the same vineyard but made in a dry and medium-sweet style.
