Thierry Faravel told me that while the 2016s “show so much fruit that people are going to love them young,” they really deserve patience because they possess very good tannic structure and acid balance underneath all the up-front fruit. Faravel’s wines have a solid history of aging well, and I have recently enjoyed bottles of his 2003 Gigondas, which came from a vintage that many people thought was far too hot to produce cellar-worthy wines.
