As usual, Janasse has produced some of the most powerful, full-flavored wines of the vintage as they manage to pull off the difficult trick of smoothly melding richness and energy. While the Vieilles Vignes bottling gets the most attention of collectors, the old vines Grenache-derived Chaupin has recently been performing at a level very close to its big brother, albeit in a more elegant guise, and that's definitely the case with the 2015. It's also worth noting that the entry-level bottling here is one of the very best values from the appellation, and it's a wine that ages wonderfully, as a bottle of 2001 showed in December.
