Nicolas Potel described 2012 as "a bit wild, like 2009, but more individual."Crop levels for the domain averaged just 22 hectoliters per hectare, and Potel vinified a number of these wines with 100% whole clusters, doing a full month-long cuvaison with very little pigeage but a long post-fermentation maceration at 28 degrees C.All of these wines had been racked into tanks three weeks before my visit and were nearly ready for bottling.Incidentally, Potel's domain vineyards are certified organic as of vintage 2011.Note that Potel's extensive collection of negociant wines, some of them of stunning quality, are covered separately under Maison Roche de Bellene.
