All producers of Saint-Péray and wine lovers around the world owe a huge debt to Alain Voge, who was steadfast on making high-quality wines here in the 1960s, when most producers had basically given up trying to exploit the appellation’s enormous quality potential. Today Voge is still a benchmark producer; in fact, the overall standard has been creeping up recently, even with the ongoing string of hot vintages. Voge’s Fleur de Crussol bottling is, to my mind, one of the consistently great white wines of the northern Rhône and it's worthy of being poured alongside the best examples of Hermitage. The Les Bulles d’Alain, made entirely from Marsanne, is the best example of sparkling wine in the region, too.
