Tom Dehlinger, who was finishing up a protracted expansion of his winery in late winter, described the 2000 growing season as warm, with a quick flowering under favorable conditions. For pinot noir, he said, this meant big berries and the potential for high yields "even with our normal thinning regime." Yields here were near four tons per acre, or at least 20% higher than the average. The 2000s, added Dehlinger, show a lot of forward fruit and sweetness.
