Chris Tynan turned out a terrific set of 2019s that capture all of the opulence of the year. There is not much in the way of subtlety here, but that does not seem to be the goal. And I am not sure it matters much, as the wines are heady, flamboyant and sure to be crowd-pleasers. Tynan describes 2019 as a long growing season with extended hang time. As usual, the wines saw a cold soak of 5-7 days and then 2-3 weeks on the skins. New oak is in the 70-90% range for the top wines, but the 2019s can handle the wood.
