Chateau St. Jean and winemaker Margo Van Staaveren excel with a range of wines that deliver an appealing combination of quality and availability, with many wines that are also budget friendly. As always, there is a real stylistic difference between the whites and reds here, that suggests the wines are made for two totally different audiences. The whites are crisp and vibrant, often with partially blocked malos, while the reds are much more opulent and flamboyant.

Chateau St. Jean and long-time Winemaker Margo Van Staaveren excel with a broad range of wines that deliver outstanding quality and value, both of which are especially remarkable considering the production levels involved. The various Sauvignon Blanc and Sonoma reds are particularly of note. The sweet spot in this lineup is always in the mid-tier offerings, many of which are terrific this year. As always, the whites tend to favor brightness and freshness, while the reds are made in a much more opulent, fruit-forward style.
