It's always great to stop by Cerbaiona. Nora and Diego Molinari make some of the most transparent, viscerally thrilling wines in Montalcino. I was fortunate to taste all of the future vintages from barrel earlier this year. Not much has changed over the years at this tiny estate. The wines are vinified in concrete and aged in cask. Cerbaiona remains one of the true jewels, not just of Montalcino or Italy, but of the world. Sadly, this year, there is no Rosso, as the vines are not under production yet following a recent replanting. Readers who want to experience some of the Cerbaiona magic at an accessible price will want to check out the 2010 Rosso Cerbaiona which is quite pretty.
