In the view of winemakers Olivier Ciosi and Xavier Frouin, 2017 and 2016 are both excellent vintages whose wines should be enjoyable throughout their lives “thanks to their forward fruit and tannin integration,” but they will appeal to different types of wine lovers. “The 2017s are for those who want opulence while the 2016s are for those who like a classic version of a terroir and less volume,” Frouin thinks, and I have no doubt that he’s correct in that assessment.
