Castello di Monsanto is one of Tuscany's most storied wineries. Fabrizio Bianchi was one of the first producers to believe in the concept of single-vineyard wines and Chianti Classico made with only Sangiovese. Today, Bianchi's daughter, Laura, runs the property, while Andrea Giovannini makes the wines. For some reason, these wines don't seem to get the recognition they deserve. The flagship Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneto Il Poggio and Cabernet Sauvignon Nemo Vigneto Il Mulino are terrific, but to be honest, the wine I find the most impressive is the Riserva, which delivers quality and personality at an exceedingly fair price.
