Danielle Cyrot has done a tremendous job with Cade's 2016s. The wines from bottle are every bit as impressive as they were from barrel. In 2016, Cyrot also bottled a small cuvée of about 150 cases exclusively from the old Ladera site that is well worth seeking out. As always, the Cade wines are done in a rich, flamboyant style for Howell Mountain.

Danielle Cyrot's 2015s are even more impressive from bottle than they were from barrel. Yields were just 3/4 of a ton per acre as opposed to the more normal 2.5, while the clusters themselves were tiny. Not surprisingly, both 2015 Cabernets are intense. The 2016s are the first wines that include fruit from the former Ladera estate, which Cade bought just before harvest. It will be interesting to see the direction these wines take now that Cade is a larger estate than it was at the outset.
