Danielle Cyrot's 2015s are even more impressive from bottle than they were from barrel. Yields were just 3/4 of a ton per acre as opposed to the more normal 2.5, while the clusters themselves were tiny. Not surprisingly, both 2015 Cabernets are intense. The 2016s are the first wines that include fruit from the former Ladera estate, which Cade bought just before harvest. It will be interesting to see the direction these wines take now that Cade is a larger estate than it was at the outset.

In late 2016, Cade purchased Ladera and in so doing greatly expanded their holdings on Howell Mountain. At present, the plan is to increase production of the existing wines, rather than adding new wines to the range. These are especially lush, flamboyant wines for Howell Mountain. Winemaker Danielle Cyrot favors short fermentations of 7-9 days at hot temperatures as part of her approach to tame the typically huge Howell Mountain tannin profile. The two thousand fifteens are the product of the earliest harvest ever at Cade. Yields were down a whopping 60% because of the poor set.
