The 2021s from Borgo del Tiglio are flat-out stunning, perfectly blending the warm vintage with their energetic style of pure fruit infused with crystalline minerality. In fact, the 2021 Studio di Bianco is one of the most exciting wines I have ever tasted here, and the Sauvignon Dark Label doesn’t fall far behind. As for the 2020s, they are an excellent effort in a year that seems to be full of ups and downs, even within a single producer's portfolio. I found the Ronco della Chiesa (Friulano) to be a huge standout in this vintage. The 2018 Rosso della Centa (Merlot) is a classic for the reds. It comes across as an old-school, cool-climate Merlot and will surely enjoy a long life. Borgo del Tiglio remains one of the reference point producers in Friuli, with a traditionally-styled portfolio that many other winemakers strive to replicate yet seldom do.
