In 2017 Bodegas Muga experienced a crop loss of over 30% due to the spring frost. The winery opted to make a single wine, their classic Reserva, which includes all of the fruit that normally goes into their prestige wines. Muga is one of the few producers of Rioja Cava. The wines are consistently excellent and on the racy, elegant side thanks to receiving a very low dosage, as little as 2 grams per litre.
