I met Brian Marcy of Big Table Farm this year at his regenerative farm and winery outside of Gaston. His wife and partner, Clare Carver, was not around. At this time, all of the fruit is purchased as Big Table Farm waits for its estate vineyard to come online between 2025 and 2026. It will be exciting to follow, as this location in the Yamhill-Carlton district is as unique and secluded as you can get. The vineyards run up and down the hills of a small valley completely surrounded by forest.

The fully functional farm supplies all the couple's needs, with cattle and chickens for meat and sheep that graze and fertilize the vineyards, also providing milk and cheese. Brian Marcy maintains swimming pools full of rainwater to irrigate the young vines at the estate. While I can’t wait to see how this project progresses, I must admit to already being smitten with the wines. Energy and purity of fruit come through in spades, but these wines will mature beautifully over time—not to mention, they offer fantastic value.
