I was so impressed with the BV wines this year. Trevor Durling, just the fifth winemaker in BV’s long history, has brought a much-needed breath of fresh air to the estate. Not that the wines were bad before. They weren’t. But they were maybe just a bit formulaic. Staid. Not anymore. The 2018 Georges de Latour is the best young vintage of the flagship wine I have ever tasted, while the Rutherford Reserve will thrill readers who are on a more modest budget.
