Andrea Oberto is one of Piedmont's unsung growers. To be sure, things have not been easy here in recent years, as family discord has been a recurring theme for some time. Hopefully those issues have been resolved or minimized so that Oberto can devote all of his attention to farming and making wine. I have long admired these Barolos for many reasons, one of them being the way they bridge the traditional and modern. The 2014s saw 11-12 days on the skins. The Barolo was aged in a combination of 16HL and 25HL casks, while the single-vineyard Barolos were done in equal parts 16HL casks and neutral French oak.
