Francesco Condello founded the winery that is now run by his daughter Chiara in 2001. She has brought numerous changes since 2015, such as turning Condé over to organic farming (the first officially certified organic vintage will be the 2018.) The inhouse winemaker is Stefano Zoli (an expert in wild herbs, one of his fields of study); Federico Stederini (of Montalcino’s Poggio di Sotto fame) is the consultant winemaker. Condé owns 110 hectares, of which 77 are under vine. The estate believes strongly (and quite correctly, I may add) in the value of the Predappio subzone of Emilia-Romagna, historically associated with an outstanding local Sangiovese biotype, and is working with other local wineries to create more visibility for this potentially very high quality viticultural area.
