Mark Wagner founded Lamoreaux Landing in 1990; he was a local grape grower with 105 acres of vineyard and the desire to explore all aspects of the wine industry. It is a sizable operation, producing around 15,000 cases of wine per year—all from estate fruit. The winemaking is reductive in style and the wines tend to be very clean, forthright, and well-made. They claim to be the first in the area to produce an Unoaked Cabernet Franc, a style which seems to be gaining popularity among local producers. Still, first or not, Lamoreaux Landing’s are among the very best; they are surprisingly serious and well-worth seeking out.
